hello/здравствуйте/bonjour/բարև ձեզ!
My name is Lucy and I’m a freelance multimedia, multilingual journalist and producer originally from the Greater Boston area. I’m currently based in Yerevan where I specialize in long-form feature writing and video-audio storytelling, primarily on human rights topics across the South Caucasus and Eastern Europe.
Previously, I was reporting and contributing to investigations on gender and sexuality in Europe/Eurasia for Opendemocracy, an international news publication based in the UK.
Back in Boston, I worked as a radio producer for The World, a nationally-syndicated foreign affairs program co-produced by PRX, GBH, and formerly the BBC World Service.
I hold a joint master’s degree in journalism and international human rights and humanitarian action from Sciences Po Paris with a regional focus on Russia and Eurasia. I’m an alum of the University of Massachusetts Amherst (and its college radio station, WMUA).
In Armenia, I co-founded, host, and produce Jazve Talks, an Armenian-English language video-podcast series that seeks to expose shame-based narratives through honest conversations with artists, writers, and creatives in the country and across the diaspora. In my spare time, I enjoy recreating the Georgian, Armenian, and Russian recipes my mother used to cook for me as a kid. I’m also a fan of feeding stray cats and writing poems in journals I forget to open again.
